A 47mm carbon road wheelset for riders who want one pair of wheels for racing, training and fast group rides. It shares its build with our 500 C SL: 20 carbon aero blade spokes at the front and 24 at the rear, a 36-tooth ratchet hub and S&S ceramic bearings. The 22.5mm internal rim suits 25mm to 35mm tires. Each wheelset is built to order.
All-round aero depth.
Forty-seven millimetres is deep enough to save real effort at speed and shallow enough that a gust does not decide your line. It is the one wheelset for riders who race, train and ride fast group rides on the same pair.
Twenty front, twenty-four rear.
A rear wheel has a harder job than a front one. It carries more of the rider, takes every watt of drive torque through the freehub, and is dished around the cassette. So the 470 C SL is laced accordingly: 20 carbon aero blade spokes at the front, where the work is lighter, and 24 at the rear, where it is not. Spreading drive torque across 24 spokes lowers the peak load on any one of them, which is what keeps a wheel true when the loads are high and repeat every pedal stroke.

All 44 spokes are carbon aero blades. Carbon fibre’s near-zero elongation under load means the spoke does not stretch and hand energy back on the next pedal stroke, so power arrives at the rim as forward motion rather than as wind-up. The bladed profile presents a narrow edge to the airflow, and spokes move through the air far faster than the bike does.
36t ratchet hubs with S&S ceramic bearings.
The 36-tooth ratchet engages across the full tooth face rather than through a pair of pawls, so power goes in the moment you load the pedals and keeps going in under torque. Inside sit S&S ceramic bearings, chosen for low drag and long service life. Center Lock disc mount, 12 x 100mm front and 12 x 142mm rear thru axles. Tubeless ready, with tubeless tape and valves included.
No clear coat, your choice of surface.
The 470 TCD SL rim is 47mm deep and weighs about 395g. It carries no clear coat, whichever surface you choose: gloss, matte, or the 25k filament wound pattern. Leaving the coating off keeps weight off the rim, where it costs the most. Gloss and matte weigh the same; the 25k filament wound surface adds 25 g per rim. All three cost the same.
