A 50mm carbon aero wheelset for riders who put real power through a wheel and expect it to stay true. It is laced with 20 carbon aero blade spokes at the front and 24 at the rear, runs a 25mm internal rim sized for 28mm to 35mm tires, and turns on S&S ceramic bearings inside a 36-tooth ratchet hub. Fast on the flat, settled in crosswinds, and built to hold its tension through a full season of riding.
Aero depth that stays civil.
Fifty millimetres is the depth where aerodynamic gain and everyday handling meet. The profile keeps steering torque low enough that a gust does not decide your line for you. At 32mm across its widest point the rim carries the airflow cleanly off a modern 28mm tire, and the 25mm internal bed lets you run that tire at a pressure your hands will thank you for.
Twenty front, twenty-four rear.
A rear wheel has a harder job than a front one. It carries more of the rider, takes every watt of drive torque through the freehub, and is dished around the cassette. So the 500 C SL is laced accordingly: 20 carbon aero blade spokes at the front, where the work is lighter, and 24 at the rear, where it is not. Spreading drive torque across 24 spokes lowers the peak load on any one of them, which is what keeps a wheel true when the loads are high and repeat every pedal stroke.

All 44 spokes are carbon aero blades. Carbon fibre’s near-zero elongation under load means the spoke does not stretch and hand energy back on the next pedal stroke, so power arrives at the rim as forward motion rather than as wind-up. The bladed profile presents a narrow edge to the airflow, and spokes move through the air far faster than the bike does: the top of the wheel travels at twice road speed.
36t ratchet hubs with S&S ceramic bearings.
The 36-tooth ratchet engages across the full tooth face rather than through a pair of pawls, so power goes in the moment you load the pedals and keeps going in under torque. Inside sit S&S ceramic bearings, chosen for low drag and long service life. Center Lock disc mount, 12 x 100mm front and 12 x 142mm rear thru axles. Tubeless ready, with tubeless tape and valves included.
No clear coat, your choice of surface.
The rim carries no clear coat, whichever surface you choose: gloss, matte, or the 25k filament wound pattern. Leaving the coating off keeps weight off the rim, where it costs the most, and leaves the carbon on open display. Gloss and matte weigh the same; the 25k surface adds 25 g per rim. All three cost the same.
SL or UL?
Both are built around the same 50mm rim, run the same carbon aero blade spokes and turn on the same S&S ceramic bearings, so on the road they behave the same way. The 500 C UL is built for one thing, mass: 998g, laced 20 / 20 in our lightest hub shell. The SL keeps every part that decides how the wheel rides and adds four rear spokes, for 1120g. If your riding is decided on long climbs and you count grams, take the UL. If you want a wheel that stays in tune under sustained power and on rough roads, take the SL.
