The Venn 2430 S XC: 24mm deep hookless carbon rims, 30mm inside, 1190g a pair.
A cross-country and down-country wheelset: a 24mm deep hookless carbon rim with a 30mm internal bed, laced 28 front and 28 rear with Pillar PSR 1420 stainless bladed spokes onto Boost hubs. The rim passes a 100 J impact test. The fibre is a blend of T700/T800 and T1100 grades. Light enough to change how a climb feels, and built to be raced rather than nursed.
Thirty millimetres, measured inside.
Internal width decides how a tire sits, and 30mm is where a modern trail casing wants to be. It holds a 2.2 to 2.5 inch tire close to its moulded shape, so the tread blocks stand square and the side knobs bite when you lean the bike. A tire supported at its proper width also holds a lower pressure without squirming, and lower pressure is the cheapest traction and comfort a mountain bike can get. The 36mm outer width carries the tire shoulder out cleanly, with no ledge for a rock to catch.
Twenty-eight stainless spokes.
Pillar PSR 1420 stainless bladed spokes, 28 in each wheel. A mountain wheel takes impacts a road wheel never sees, and a steel spoke yields slightly under a hit and comes back, taking energy out of the impact before the rim has to absorb all of it. Twenty-eight spokes spread trail loads and braking torque so that no single spoke carries an outsized share. Any shop, anywhere, can source and replace one.
Built around Boost.
Boost spacing only: 15 x 110mm front and 12 x 148mm rear. Moving the flanges outboard widens the bracing angle on both wheels, which gives a wide rim and a big tire the lateral stiffness they need. The rear hub takes a Shimano HG, SRAM XD or Shimano Micro Spline freehub body, and the 36-tooth ratchet runs on sealed steel bearings that you service with standard tools and parts.
Shallow and hookless, on purpose.
At trail speeds depth buys nothing aerodynamically, and a 24mm wall flexes a little under square-edged hits instead of passing all of it on to the tire and the rider. The bed is hookless: there is no thin hook lip at the rim edge, so the sidewall can be laid up thicker where impacts land. Run tubeless tires approved for hookless rims and stay within the tire maker’s hookless pressure limit; trail pressures sit well below it.
XC or AM?
Both 2430 wheelsets share a rim mould, the 30mm internal bed, the 28 / 28 Pillar spokes and the Boost hubs. The XC passes a 100 J impact test and weighs 1190g; the 2430 S AM passes 130 J and weighs 1290g. The 100g between them is material placed where a rim takes hits. Choose the XC for racing, marathon and down-country riding, where climbing and acceleration decide the day. Choose the AM for sustained descending on rock you cannot always avoid.

FAQ
Cross-country and down-country riders who care how a bike climbs and accelerates, on trails where they can usually choose a clean line. If your days are decided on long descents through rock gardens, the 2430 S AM is built for that instead.
1190g +/- 30g for the pair, with a 30mm internal bed and 28 stainless spokes in each wheel.
It is the impact energy, in joules, that the rim must withstand to pass our impact test: a pass mark, not a breaking point. The XC passes at 100 J; the AM, with more material in its impact zones, at 130 J.
The 30mm internal bed suits 2.2 to 2.5 inch tires. Within that range the tire sits close to its moulded shape, with square tread blocks and predictable cornering.
Boost only: 15 x 110mm front and 12 x 148mm rear. The rear hub takes a Shimano HG, SRAM XD or Shimano Micro Spline freehub body, chosen at checkout.
Yes. They ship with tubeless tape and valves. On a hookless mountain rim tubeless is the intended setup: use tires approved for hookless rims and stay within the tire maker’s hookless pressure limit.
Yes. Shipping is free to every destination, and duties and taxes are prepaid to the US, the EU and the UK.
The Venn limited warranty: 5 years on the rims and 2 years on the complete wheelset, against defects in materials and workmanship.
